The Advanced Manufacturing & Prototyping Center of East Tennessee
AMP! – The Advanced Manufacturing & Prototyping Center of East Tennessee – is a collaborative venture led by Tech 20/20 in partnership with Oak Ridge National Laboratory, Pellissippi State Community College, and The University of Tennessee Center for Industrial Services. To develop the Advanced Manufacturing Cluster in East Tennessee, AMP! has four strategic approaches:
• Promote growth for manufacturers in the 20-county region surrounding Oak Ridge and Knoxville
• Connect resources to encourage the collaboration and expansion of advanced manufacturing jobs
• Develop a workforce to drive innovation and entrepreneurship
• Innovate and improve manufacturing processes and technologies
AMP! unites students, researchers and private companies to accelerate job growth and development throughout an identified region. AMP! is designed to reduce unemployment, generate prosperity, and create a new industry cluster centered around collaboration and sustainability in the area of advanced manufacturing.
AMP! was initially funded under the 2012 Advanced Manufacturing Jobs and Innovation Accelerator Challenge as one of 10 awards nationwide, with funding provided by the Economic Development Administration, National Institute of Standards and Technology, Department of Energy, Employment & Training Administration, and Small Business Administration.
